What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12 midday. Our main telephone number is 020-8963 7450. Please e-mail us at sales@touchstoneworktops.com outside of these hours and we will call you back as soon as we are open.

How can I get a quote?

We can provide a quote over the phone on the above number, via fax on 020-8963 7455, by post at the address on our home page or you can e-mail your requirement to us at sales@touchstoneworktops.com
We aim to reply within 24 hours during the working week, provided that we can source the required material from our own or from U.K. stocks. Quotations for materials sourced from overseas, i.e. materials that are not commonly found in the U.K. or quotations for large projects may take three to four days.
All prices are quoted + VAT.

Should I view the material?

We advise that if you don't have a working knowledge of the material you are purchasing, it's probably best that you visit our premises to view our selection of slabs. All natural stones vary in colour, markings, veining, shading and their irregularity is the essence that provides their beauty.
During winter months we recommend that you visit us during daylight hours, as this will provide the best opportunity to view the characteristics of the stone.

Do you provide free samples?

Yes we will gladly let you take samples from our pre-cut sample selection if you collect from out warehouse in London or you can order samples from our online shop and we will post them out to you. There is a small fee to cover to postage on each sample.

Am I limited to your current stock?

No. Touchstone has established contacts with many U.K. and European quarries, suppliers & wholesalers. We are able to source almost any stone as long as it is remains commercially quarried in the world today.

What is the standard thickness of slab material?

Limestone, marble, slate and granite are all available in 20mm, 30mm and not so commonly 40mm slabs. Quartz slabs, such as Silestone, are available in 20mm and 30mm only. We find most clients use 20mm for bathroom tops and 30mm for kitchen worktops.

Do different material types cost different prices?

Yes. As a rough guide limestone is perhaps the cheaper of natural stones as it soft and is therefore easier for us to work with. Marble has a mid-ranged price band, leaving granite with its hard formation costing a little more due to the extended time it takes us to work upon. Quartz, e.g. Silestone, is an equivalent or higher price than granite.
When asking for a quotation if you ask us to base our price on a mid-range stone of a particular category (limestone, marble, granite, quartz) this will give you a good idea of a guide price.

What are quartz worktops?

Quartz worktops are approximately 93-95% quartz crystals mixed with a 7-5% balance of colour pigments and bonding agents. The result of this mixture is a technically advanced stone product produced in a broad spectrum of modern and fashionable colours. Silestone brand quartz also has the added advantage of having Microban® antibacterial protection built in to the product.

Do different edge details cost different prices?

Yes. The more grinding to be done or the more intricate the edge, the higher the cost will be. For instance a square polished edge is cheaper than a moulded, bull-nosed or doubled edge.

Am I limited to straight runs of worktop?

No. We can make almost any shape top you require. A client once asked us to use 30mm black granite to make a kitchen island top that looked like a puddle! We are happy to take on any imaginative ideas you may have, the only limitation is the size of the slabs themselves.

Do you supply kitchen sinks and taps?

Yes. We supply the majority of our clients with under-mount sinks and taps from Franke’s specialist and professional ranges. We also are suppliers of Perrin & Rowe exclusive taps. Tri-flow pure water taps are available in both the Franke and Perrin & Rowe ranges. Please see our sink and tap page on this web-site.

Do you cut in drainer grooves to the tops?

Yes. Many kitchen worktops have under-mounted sinks, to compliment this feature we can add a set of drainer grooves. These grooves act as channels to guide any water spilt on the surface toward the sink when cleaning up.

Can I place hot pans directly on to my granite/quartz worktops?

In general granite/quartz worktops can withstand hot temperatures for a limited period of time. We advise that particularly with quartz a trivet be used beneath any hot pans.

Can I cut on my granite/quartz worktops?

Granite is very robust and will withstand everyday domestic use such as cutting. Although Quartz has a high level of scratch resistance we do not advise that you cut directly on the surface of any quartz worktop.

Can I have a soap-dish moulded into my bathroom vanity top?

Yes. Please notify us if you would like a soap-dish moulded into your top and to which side you would like it positioned.

I have been told to seal the tops: do you provide this service and sell products for the maintenance of my stone?

As a rule Touchstone seal all items before they leave our factory. Sealing is essential to stop unwanted marks appearing on your stone. Please remember though, all natural stones have a degree of porosity, limestone being the most porous, marble having mid-range porosity and granite being the least porous.
Touchstone use, recommend and sell sealants and other products by 'Lithofin'. We offer advice on how to maintain your stone and we are able to point you to the Lithofin product specifically developed for your stones maintenance.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Our vans are equipped to handle the smooth delivery of our finished products. There is a small charge for delivery within Central London and delivery is to your front door. If you live above or below the ground floor you must make us aware of this fact, as we may have to send additional labour to assist with the off-load. Please note, for supply only work, we do not allow our delivery drivers to place the stones in position, a suitable safe storage space inside you front door must be made available before we arrive. Please ask for a quote for delivery outside of Central London.

How do I place an order?

You can post, e-mail or fax your written order confirmation, or drop-in to our factory with your template.

How much deposit do you require?

With any order we require a deposit of 65% inclusive of VAT before we can commence, the balance payment is made on the day you collect the goods or on the day we complete fixing.

What methods of payment are accepted?

We accept debit cards, cheques and cash. All payments made by any credit card attract a 2.5% handling charge.
If your order requires a quick turnaround time we advise a debit card payment or cash, as all cheques must be cleared before we commence your order.

Where can I find you terms and conditions?

Our terms and conditions appear on a separate page on which can found at the foot of our home page. Terms and conditions are also available by request over the fax and are printed on the rear of any written quote we send out through the post. They also appear on the rear of your final invoice. Please make yourself aware of our terms and conditions before you place an order.
